What To Do When Fear of Failure Holds You Back

The fear of not accomplishing what we hope to or would like to means that we don’t share our goals with others and we play small.

We talk ourselves out of more ambitious efforts because we feel like it could be a waste of time.

I see this a lot with my clients. They’re hesitant to put the work in a job search because they have no guarantee if it will pay off or not.

And the truth is we really don’t know how things will turn out.

So here’s a quick pep talk to remind you why working through your fear is important!

Yes, there are lots of challenges and barriers to meaningful employment.

But when something is really important to you, like a meaningful career, then you owe it to yourself to put in the effort,  even if the outcome isn’t clear or certain.

We often keep our lofty goals and our gifts to ourselves rather than risk failing in front of other people — even though telling people and having support along the way could actually help us achieve our goals.

There are going to be lots of challenges along the way. Don’t let yourself become one of them!

Remember, there are things worse than failing.

Like never giving your goal the effort that it deserves!

How would you feel in 1 or 5 or 10 years if you never even tried?

Consider this an itch that you just have to scratch.

Your job is just to get started.

What’s the easiest possible way that you could get started?

There are lots of possible outcomes and lessons you to learn by pursuing something that matters to you.
