3 Things Your Job Search Needs to Succeed
3 Things Your Job Search Needs to Succeed
I’ve been watching people change careers, get promoted and land new jobs for nearly 8 years.
Just as I’ve taught my clients how to create a strategic resume and prepare for an interview, I’ve learned so much from watching ambitious, busy people prioritize their own goals and take the next steps in their careers.
Today, I’m sharing three things your job search needs to be succeed based on our clients’ success!
Strategy
When I say strategy, I’m referring to the tools, tactics, and strategies that can help you elevate your job search, effectively communicate your value, and save you a lot of time.
We work across industries so we understand the culture and norms vary by industry and function and help people build confidence in their contributions and put their best foot forward.
Everyone knows the basics of what’s required to land a new job.
But what you need to do as you develop in your career is review your learning and goals, evaluate any assumptions you’ve made, navigate different opportunities, and make strategic decisions.
That’s a whole different ball game than simply applying online with a resume template.
You need a bigger vision, higher expectations, and the tools to generate compelling offers in order to make a career move that matters.
Structure
Currently between jobs with a lot of time on your hands? Working long hours? It turns out what pretty much all job seekers have in common is breaking the process down into actionable steps, prioritizing your own goals, and actually getting stuff done is hard for…pretty much everyone.
Our clients have access to our step-by-step road map for your job search, with exercises and templates, because it helps gives you a structure and process to follow and allows you to take advantage of even small chunks of time. These tools really help eliminate overthinking!
We’ve even built co-working and accountability into our work because getting stuff done is hard.
There’s no getting around it – your job search is going to require time and commitment so providing structure for our clients helps them manage their expectations and focus their efforts – with results to show for it!
Support
Even though I’m super proud of the materials and resources we provide our clients, hardly anyone thanks me for my worksheets.
When our time together wraps up and they’ve landed that job, what I hear time and time again is “Thank you for the encouragement.”
Pretty much everyone experiences setbacks and disappointments and having someone who can help put things in perspective and pick up where you left off, can be a huge advantage.
So many people give up too soon.
Having a career strategist and community support can be a real game changer. If you’re struggling alone, I hope you’ll consider working with us or joining us live at one of our webinars.
