10 Questions for Big Life Changes
Oh, big life changes. Exhilarating. Exciting. Slightly terrifying.
Whether it’s a job you’d love but with a huge pay cut or a big move to a new city, I totally get it.
When you have the opportunity to make a Big Life Change, it can be a very scary thing.
(In fact, I think fear is the worst part.)
Indecision can hold people back from moving forward.
While people often say they are waiting to be “clear,” I find that they often mean they are waiting to be certain!
We offer big questions for big life changes.
Instead of approaching a transition like there is one, single best way to move forward, we can use self-reflection to think more critically about the opportunities abd costs involved in making a decision - plus we can identify our own strengths and resources that will help support us along the way.
So, instead of a crystal ball, here are 10 questions you can ask yourself as you’re making the decision so that you feel confident you’ve given it a lot of thought.
Thinking out the possibilities before committing can leave you feeling clear and confident about why you’re making this decision.
1. What values are you ready to honor?
2. What are the fears holding you back?
3. What are you saying “yes” to?
4. What are you willing to say “no” to?
5. What strengths and resources can you rely on in this process?
6. How will you measure your success?
7. What people in my network will offer me accountability and/or support?
8. How will you acknowledge your progress along the way?
9. What are some resources you can leverage or actions you can take if you run into challenges?
10. How will you feel by honoring your core values?
I find that these questions are even more effective when you pair them with a trusted friend or a journal!
